Set in a beautiful French ski resort, Avoriaz, STILL THINKING OF YOU involves Rich and Tash’s plans to elope and invite their friends to be a part of their “happily-ever-after” celebration. Once everyone gathers, and a white-out occurs, the guests begin to feel claustrophobic and disgruntled with each other, and their own lives as well.
Rich is a rather hedonistic Romeo who never thought to fall in love. He partied hard with his friends and had no plans to settle down. Not until he met Natasha, Tash, that is. He has finally fallen, and fallen hard. It’s the real thing; the relationship that leads to marriage. Once gathered at a fabulous ski resort in France, Rich’s friends are kind to Tash but soon begin to treat her very differently. When Rich joins in instead of standing up to them and he and his chums begin to treat her friends nastily, all the while acting as if they are still carefree college Lotharios, Tash starts to harbor doubts about the man she thought to marry. Enter Jayne, “The One”; the woman Rich was enthralled with in college. She is what Tash is not; sexy, effervescent, and clingy. Will he decide he’s not really in love with Tash or will he wise up and realize what he has to lose?
If the author’s goal was to show the reader how selfish a cast of characters could be; she succeeded mightily. Intent on recapturing their youth, Rich and his friends set out to act like the most childish and selfish lot; all in the name of reliving their “stellar” youthful twenties. Though they were annoying, they were an integral part of the story. Tash was a character I could empathize with, though I found her to be a little shallow at times as well. Her insecurities were aptly portrayed, and her loyalty to her friends was laudable. STILL THINKING OF YOU is a story about friendship, fidelity, and the way we perceive ourselves. Fear of aging is a strong and very realistic premise of the story; one many readers will be able to identify with.
