Susanna Miller is about to lose custody of her infant son, Tyler, to her ex-husband and his new wife. She has little income, while her ex and his wife are both attorneys. And it's a well-known fact that Linc Sebastian, the man she loves and hopes to marry, has served time for murder. Realizing that she's going to lose her son, Susanna changes her identity and goes on the run with Tyler. She settles down in Annapolis, Maryland, where she makes a new life for herself -- a life which includes Adam Soria, an artist who competes with her memories of Linc. She decides to support herself by taking in word processing jobs, but when she buys a used laptop computer and discovers its shocking contents, she's drawn into a dangerous web of mystery. People will be harmed if she doesn't turn the information on the computer over to the police . . . but how can she take that risk when she is on the run?
